Some classes and specs are better suited to AoE Grinding, such as the Protection Paladin or Frost Mage. Other classes are able to AoE Grind as well, but you may need to wait until later levels in order to be effective against a large number of mobs. AoE Grinding is an effective way to farm for gold, as you are able to handle a large number of mobs at a time.
Some races have advantages for certain classes, for instance Alliance Gnomes have an increased mana pool, making them a solid choice for Frost Mage AoE Grinding. Tauren Paladins can add a war stomp into their rotation to help them get a heal in.
Each class you want to grind with will need specialized gear, spec, glyphs, and consumables. Each guide is divided into levels, showing you what choices work well for AoE Grinding at your level.
Once you have your gear, talents, glyphs, and consumables you’ll want to practice your pull, your burn, an escape if things go wrong, and looting if they go right. Its best to start out with a few mobs, and move on to really impressive pulls once you master the technique. There are also certain professions that accelerate your DPS output to incredible levels!
AoE Grinding generally starts at level 20, when you get your first mount.
When choosing your locations, try to look for mobs that are green for your level. If you find that you can reliably handle multiple green mobs, then those that are yellow, or even orange to you are great exp. When you master the techniques and have the right gear, you can easily pull multiple red mobs, and play the game in ways that Blizzard never intended!
If you have access to heirlooms, definitely use them. Even if gear slots could be used by a nice piece of gear in a classe’s guide, the added experience boost from heirlooms is best.
WoW Guild perks such as Fast Track or Mr. Popularity also give an additional exp boost.
